Book Giveaway: The Heart Attack Sutra

Way of the BodhisattvaThe Heart Attack Sutra
A New Commentary on the Heart Sutra by Karl Brunnhölzl
The radical message of the Heart Sutra, one of Buddhism’s most famous texts, is a sweeping attack on everything we hold most dear: our troubles, the world as we know it, even the teachings of the Buddha himself. In this book of teachings, Karl Brunnhölzl guides practitioners through this ’crazy’ sutra to the wisdom and compassion that lie at its core. Leave a comment below for a chance to win a copy. Congrats to Shelli! Thanks for your comments, everyone, and stay tuned for more giveaways.

  1. In Chinese medicine, the heart is associated with fire and the summer seaon. It is such a fitting time to read this book, we have just passed the solstice and can reflect on the first half of the year, letting go of what we no longer need and taking the lessons we have learned and applying them to the new season that is dominated by that firy heart energy!

  2. The more reflections one is able to witness from this great mirror that the heart sutra is, the greater the rainbow of understanding that unfolds.

  3. This book is next on my reading list. I am so looking forward to reading it. Not surprised to see Shambhala stocks it, in addition to many other must-read books on Buddhism.

    Blessings to you

    Tim

  4. im trying to learn and apply compassion and gratitude to every day, and even though its a conscious effort at the moment, i know that with patience and application and understanding i will get there :)

  5. I designed, fact-checked and proofread Ken McLeod’s wonderful An Arrow to the Heart…his commentary on the Heart Sutra. I became very intimate with the text ,and his comments, poetry and riffs cooked it into my bones. I’d love to read this one.

  6. I am experienced with trouble – both as a maker of it and a recepient. I have much more to learn. A book will inform my journey and maybe help me remove some trouble to lighten my perceived burden.

  7. With such a cleverly, confrontational title, The Heart Attack Sutra sounds like an interesting way to approach contemplation of such dry subject.
I would like to learn more about the Sutras, as I am rather new on my journey of Buddhist studies.

  8. In today’s world…the clients I see all have heart issues…fear, anger, not opening to others…and especially themselves. I look forward to sharing the message of this text.

  9. I would love to read this book! Shambhala teachings and books have been a life force for me live awake. Please send me a book! I will read this book with my heart and mind and prosper to liberate my soul for peace. Thank you.

  10. How wonderful and enlightening when one makes ancient texts available to our world today. I love thé way in which Thay does this and look forward to reading this author’s perspective. Hilary (most diligent melody of the heart)

  11. Really? …. People had heart attacks when they first heard Buddha’s teachings? I understand, the teachings have affected me in much the same way. Definitely want to read this ….
