Raising Your Mind to an Adult Level

Book coverIf you don’t have a good relationship with yourself, you cannot understand the dharma, and your body and mind will not be properly coordinated. The practice of meditation helps you coordinate your body and your mind. You realize that your mind can be directed to a particular effort, that your mind works. Through shamatha, or the basic practice of meditation, you are able to raise your mind to an adult level. Your mind does not jump all over the place whenever you try to do something.

  1. Being brave is loving enough to tolerate confusion, ignorance, rejection and fears. Being brave is living life with patience, tolerance, Self-awareness and equinimity. Pema has taught me a lot about being brave.

  2. Being Brave is being fearless in the face of adversity, whether it’s eating too many cashews; cleaning the heart of debris; visiting sacred spaces; or, calling forth the gladiator within, one small risky step at a time . . . while hanging from a cliff.
